$81,000 raised @ Marionettes auction
Businessman Nicholas Galt gave his portfolio a boost with a painting by Lisa O’Connor at a silent auction at the BPTT Marionettes Chorale Christmas concert, “Celebrate Joy,” at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s recently. The auction took place during the gala reception held in the foyer of Queen’s Hall.
Businessmen wagered handsomely for the artwork as part of a fund-raising effort to help rebuild the St Joseph Convent School, in Grenville, Grenada, which was ravaged by Hurricane Ivan. The project was the brainchild of the Marionettes Chorale and the Rotary Clubs of Trinidad and Tobago. Money raised during the auction, together with proceeds from the night’s gala, as well as a collection drive among choir members were close to $81, 000.
