Palo Seco man gunned down

According to a police report, Seerattan attended a sports event at Los Charos junction and was standing on the road at about midnight when he was shot dead. Another man was injured, the report stated, and has since been warded at the San Fernando General Hospital.

The report stated that Seerattan was liming with friends when a vehicle pulled up and two men alighted. Gun shots were heard by residents, the report stated. Seerattan’s body was found slumped in a ditch at the side of the road with multiple gunshot wounds.

Seerattan’s distraught father, Carl, expressed the view that the police station was in close proximity, but as far as the residents of Palso Seco were concerned, officers there were very focused on those who were selling small amounts of marijuana on the side of the road.

Parliamentary representative for the area Nicole Ollivierre visited the home of Seerattan, who was a father of three, to offer condolences, saying that she had attended the sports day which was sponsored by the Los Charos Community Centre where there was a heavy police presence. “This incident took place after the police left the scene,” Olliverre said. The shooting incident was new to the area and it is a wake-up call for the community.
