Sagicor donates $100,000 to charities
As the sun set Port-of-Spain mayor, Joel Martinez blew the starting horn for the one lap around the Queen’s Park Savannah. Along the route runners were treated to displays and the sound of tassa and steel at various points. While some participants came out with family and friends to walk and chip, the elite sub-20 runners were competitively participating to find out who would be the fastest man and woman around the Savannah.
Corporate communications manager of Sagicor, Marlene Chin said, “It gives us great pride at Sagicor to know we can produce fun, uplifting events for our country that showcase the generosity of our citizens. We are pleased to make contribution to two very worthy charities.” Sunny Bling, host of the night walk, entertained the crowd and helped members of Sagicor’s executive team to present winners with prizes at the end of the evening. Various participants won $40,000 in prizes, while each participant received a T-shirt and a medal as part of their package, as well as a water bottle upon completion of the race.
