Stampfli, Cadogan win National Singles

The match was keenly anticipated with the champions of 2015 and 2016 fighting for 2017 honours.

In the final last year, Mohammed, 27 years old, defeated former top junior player Emma Davis after returning home from studies abroad.

Stampfli was not present to defend her crown.

Third ranked Stampfli, 21, who attends Florida Gulf Coast University, prevailed in just two sets yesterday in a dominating display.

Stamplfi took the first set 6-2 and dropped just three games in the second to clinch the victory.
