$2M in weed destroyed in South

Police said 2,000 fully grown marijuana trees which went up in smoke were ready for the market.

While four marijuana fields, four makeshift camps, 40,000 seedlings, 15 pounds of cured marijuana, five pounds of marijuana seeds and one drying rack were destroyed, no one was arrested in connection with the find. The ten-hour exercise, which saw officers being airlifted into the forested area, ended at 5 pm on Wednesday and was co-ordinated by Head of Southern Division Snr Supt Zamsheed Mohammed, ASP Ali Mohammed and Insp Don Gajadhar.

It was conducted and supervised by Insp Tewarie, Sgt Conliffe, Sgt Ramlogan and involved officers of the Organised Crime Narcotics and Firearms Bureau, Princes Town CID, Southern Division Task Force, Moruga and St Mar y’s Police Stations and the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment and the Air Support Unit.
