Simon’s Musical gets own home
Last Friday, in an official ceremony, Port- of-Spain Mayor Joel Martinez cut the ribbon to the spanking-new, two-storey building.
An elated Carimbocas said: “I cried for joy, on the opening of this shop. I cannot explain or express myself and feelings with the overwhelming response I am having from customers.
Wednesday morning was fantastic, so many customers passed through the store and not just to see but they were shopping.
“I even had the president of Yamaha Panama, Taro Onoe here and he too could not believe what he saw.” Onoe said he has been to countries all over the world but he has never experience an opening like this one in Trinidad. He said this store has the “wow factor”, Carimbocas said.
Carimbocas said he purchased the building in May last year but started renovations in January which took five months to complete.
The opening marked one year since he acquired the building.
The ground floor is stacked with almost every musical instrument possible and continues to half of the top floor.
Carimbocas says he is not sure if he will rent out the other half of the top floor or if he may build the Simon’s Musical Music Academy and add something new to his business.
Martinez said he was very pleased that Simon’s Musical did not choose to move out of the capital city but chose to stay in Port-of- Spain.
The building was blessed by Fr Alex Viruthakulangara and entertainment was supplied by violinist Anslem Walters for long-standing customers, friends and family.
