No role for Govt in judicial issues
Young reiterated Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s position that the Government continues to maintain the “Great Wall of China” between the different arms of the State, in keeping with the Doctrine of Separation of Powers.
“Obviously we continue to observe what is going on,” he stated.
Indicating that the wall in question is a constitutional one which the Privy Council has ruled on since the 1970s, Young said what was happening were, “some of the growing pains of a growing nation right now in the administration of justice.” He said the parties who need to be involved in this matter right now are the Judiciary, Law Association and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
