Dwayne Bravo pleased brother Darren can resume international career

In November 2016, Darren called Cameron a “big idiot” on Twitter, because he was unhappy with his player contract and the performance of the CWI president.

As a result of his statement, Darren was banned from playing for both the West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.

Cameron said Darren had to remove the tweet and accept that he did something wrong before he can represent West Indies and/ or Trinidad and Tobago again.

Two weeks ago, Darren removed the tweet and apologised for his statement which immediately made him available to play again.

Talking about his brother’s return to West Indies and TT cricket, Dwayne said, “I am happy (that he was able to resolve the situation he had with the CWI).

I am happy that what happened is over and Darren can come back and play cricket and continue his career.” Before his conflict with Cricket West Indies was resolved, Darren was still allowed to play in this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). Darren only played four matches for TKR in the 2016 Caribbean Premier League because of West Indies duty. Dwayne said having his younger brother on the team for the entire tournament this year will benefit the team.

“He is a very key member of the Trinbago Knight Riders team.

The year (2015) we won he was the main batter for us. Last year we only had him for four games, but this year we have him for the entire tournament which is a bonus.

“After CPL there is a lot of cricket where ever he chooses to go. Whether he gets selected (for the West Indies) or not that is up to those who are in charge, but the most important thing is that he apologised and he is ready and focused to play cricket again.” West Indies will begin a Test series against England from the middle of August. However, Darren was not included as the team was selected before the left-handed batsmen resolved his situation with the CWI.
