Registration opens for RBC Race for the Kids 2017

In 2016, about 1,500 people took part in the 5K and 15K, and RBC raised $200,000.

Speaking recently at the launch of the 2017 edition of the global race, which takes place on October 8, White said: “We at RBC are absolutely proud of our Race for the Kids. It is more than just a signature event for us. It is a cause that we do not simply support. We live it. And when we look back at last year’s inaugural race, we expect greater participation from the public as a whole. We hope to double the number of participants and the money raised.” The money raised from the race supports the RBC Caribbean Children’s Cancer Fund. This fund was established in 2008 to assist young people across the Caribbean who are 16 years of age and under and have been diagnosed with cancer.

The fund provides the necessary care and treatment they need to fight the dreaded disease.

The RBC Race for the Kids began in 2008 in New York City and has expanded to several countries and cities since then, with runs in Toronto, Chicago, London, Hong Kong and Sydney. It is part of RBC’s larger commitment to children and youth through the RBC Kids Pledge, a five-year $560 million promise to improve the well-being of one million kids and youth throughout the world.

The local race comprises a fun and family oriented 5K and a 15K for more competitive runners.

Registration for the event opened online last Tuesday at www.rbc.com/caribbean. Interested participants can also get information at any RBC branch.
