UNC MP: Rowley Gov’t against workers

“In a statement, Couva South MP Rudy Indarsingh said trade unions must accept this as reality and the incumbent Dr Keith Rowley Administration is the “most anti-union” government in TT’s history.

“The time is now for continued unity within the labour movement to stop the PNM from further destroying, destabilising and traumatising families through their failed economic policies and the UNC will continue to be on those who are being oppressed and marginalised,” Indarsingh said.

He said the UNC warned the country during the 2016/2017 Budget debate that, “t job losses would occur in the thousands within the economy based on a budget which lacked substance and a plan for development.” He reiterated the UNC’s claim that Government, “has surrendered the running of the country to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the multi lateral lending agencies.” In a statement issued on Saturday, Rowley urged trade union leaders to rejoin the National Tripartite Advisory Council to address the socio-economic challenges confronting the country.
