Body found in Barrackpore river identified

Relatives yesterday went to the Forensic Science Centre in St James to identify the body.

An autopsy by forensic pathologist Dr Valery Alexandrov determined although Adheen was stabbed multiple times and was strangled, he died from drowning after his body was thrown in the river.

Adheen’s sister, who did not wish to be named, told Newsday yesterday the last time she saw him was over three years ago. He had separated himself from his family members after their mother died. He moved to Piparo and began working at a sawmill.

“I don’t know much about what happened over those few years,” the sister said. “I just assumed that he would have been able to take care of himself because he was a grown person.

He did not have any wife or kids, so he would mostly keep to himself. I wasn’t expecting to get a call saying he was dead.” Police are trying to establish a motive behind his killing. The murder toll for the year now stands at 296.
