Let’s instil a sporting spirit

The current system in the Ministry of Sport needs to be restructured in such a way that all families supporting their youngsters will start them on a journey to stardom. All stakeholders connected to the ministry must supply funds to create more Hasely Crawfords, Ato Boldons and also in the mold of our current world class achievers, Jareem Richards, Machel Cedenio, Lalonde Gordon and Jarvin Solomon. Looking at that race gave me a feeling of pride and I felt that they ran the 4 x400M relay like daring race horses. What a race it was.

We ought to start documenting and highlighting our sporting heroes, not only on welcome home day but regularly.

It is high time we rid ourselves of the nine-day wonder malady and redirect our protesting energies to a national consciousness of competitive preparedness for all games.

We must instil the sporting spirit in this beautiful land and carry our national flag with esteem and feel the overwhelming positive vibes coming from each citizen’s lips.

Young people must find their God-given talent and believe in themselves. And with the support of their families they will eventually gain success. We have the power to achieve as long as we put our minds and hearts into the melting pot we severely miss.
