Law Association angered by media leak
The Council of the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago has condemned the leaking of “private and confidential communications between senior officers of the Executive and members of the Judiciary” to the media. In an advertisement today, the Law Association chastised those who purportedly gave documents relating to the problems facing the Chief Justice, to media personnel, stating that this was “a poor reflection on the judgment of such persons.”
They also strongly condemned the media for printing “stories purporting to be extracts from some of the documents with sensational, and in some cases, scandalous headlines.” The Law Association also urged all citizens to moderate their opinions and restrain themselves from jumping to conclusions until all the facts are known, since such irresponsible behaviour could further “exacerbate and already sensitive issue.” “This must stop now,” the association’s ad stated.
