India’s Shaan thrills thousands
The youthful and talented Shaan of India, sang his way into the hearts of those gathered to see him at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya on Satuday evening. Shaan made his entrance through the audience as he sang the song, “Dil Mera Hai.” The star who is well known for singing remixed tunes, did his popular numbers, “Mousu Mousu Haasi” as well as “One Love.” He was joined by the new recording star Shruti Pathak as they both did many of the latest duets from the the new movies coming out of India. Shaan stayed on stage for one hour and fifteen minutes as he delivered 20 songs one after the other, much to the delight of the cheering audience.
The local act of the Clico Shiv Shakti Dance Company opened the show with a religious dance to Lord Hanuman. This was followed by another dance interpreted in the folk style which was led by former beauty queen, Susan Badree. Accompanied by eight musicians, Shruti took to the stage to do the Asha Bosle tune, “Baharey Churiya” and the uptempo tune, “Isa Dil Diya Rey.” She ended her stint with the chart topper song, “Dhoom Machaley.”
Shaan who is the host of the popular television programme, Sa Re Ga Ma, is well known for interviewing people on the street. He called on the locals who had the ability to sing to join him on stage. It was then that he was introduced to Satesha Persad who did “Kasam Se.” And Deosaran Ramsumair who did the theme song from the Bollywood, movie Kal Ho Na Ho. He complimented the youth for their singing ability saying that Trinidad and Tobago is full of people who are both beautiful and talented.
