WOMAN’S CORPSE FOUND IN TAROUBA
AN IGUANA chase led two young Tarouba men to the skeletal remains of a body believed to be that of a woman yesterday in Marabella. The men, Rishi and Eric Bunsee reportedly told police detectives that around 1.15 pm they were chasing an iguana when they stumbled upon the skeleton in some bushes, in the vicinity of the San Fernando Bypass. District Medical Officer (DMO), Dr Halcanpee, who visited the scene said the body may have been there for about two weeks.
He added that due to the wind blowing in a westerly direction the foul scent would have been overlooked, making it difficult for nearby residents to have discovered it while in its early stages of decomposition. A woman’s hair piece and a pair of black track shoes were found close to the skeleton, hence, supporting the belief by detectives that the bones belonged to a woman.
Supt of the Southern Division, Krishna Maharaj, Insp Rodriguez, Insp Valdez, Sgt Charles and WP Cpl Jardeen were also at the scene, along with officers from Homicide and the Marabella Police Station. The skeletal remains along with the other items were ordered removed to the Forensic Sciences Complex, St James. Investigations are continuing.
