Security officers foil break-in at PoS mall

SECURITY officers on duty yesterday at various businesses on Chacon Street, Port-of-Spain foiled a possible break-in at the back of Town Centre Mall, while a street-dweller who witnessed the act was ordered to move. According to reports, around 12.15 pm, six cars with men pulled up on the western side of the roadway and ordered the street dweller sleeping under the eave of the mall to move as they were going to clean the place. As he was walking away one of the men told him do not watch.

Minutes later a loud noise was heard. Security officers at three nearby businesses ran out to see what was happening.  The men quickly grabbed their tools, jumped into their vehicles, which included a van and drove off. Checks showed the back door and the security gateway of the mall were forced open. Several car numbers were handed over to the police. Security officers also confirmed that two of the cars have been seen regularly circling the precincts of the mall.
