Govt ministers on St Ann’s retreat

Government ministers and PNM members gathered for a retreat yesterday at Chancellor Hotel, St Ann’s, to reflect on their two-and-a-half years in government. At the retreat, Prime Minister Patrick Manning told reporters discussions were underway to ensure that government paid more attention to the population.  He said, “We get together to review how we have been going and what adjustments we have to make to get the job done.”

Outside the casual affair, which was not open to the media, Works Minister Franklin Khan denied the event had anything to do with a Cabinet reshuffle, stating that ministers had gathered to reflect on their delivery and performance over the past few years. The Prime Minister noted that there was no connection between yesterday’s retreat and the recent move by the PNM for the party to move into an “election footing.” A similar meeting is planned for the end of this month.
