Crushed port victim cremated

TO SCREAMS of  “it was not your time” and “who will make my breakfast in the morning?” last Wednesday’s Port of Port-of-Spain fatal accident victim Sanjeev Rampersad was cremated. In what was a very emotional atmosphere, his father Horace Rampersad, mother Janice, fiancee Nicole Lewis, grandmother Sylvia Sinanan and several friends and relatives had to be consoled at the family’s Maraj Road, San Juan home as the last words were said for the former tally clerk.

His father, Horace, threw himself on the coffin while crying. Lewis, who was to be his wife in two months had to be constrained as the couple’s six- month-old daughter Zephra, oblivious to what was happening, was allowed to stroke her father’s face for the last time. Sanjeev, who would have celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday, was crushed to death when a crane drove over him.
