Gunmen tell victim: ‘We come for you’
A CHAGUANAS businessman was abducted on Friday night. Robin Ramadhar, 42, was at the time liming with friends at the Curry House Restaurant and Bar, at the corner of Branch Road and Queen Street, Aranjuez. According to reports, four armed men approached Ramadhar, owner of a dry-goods business in Chaguanas, as he was seated in the crowded restaurant and told him: “We come for you.”
The men bundled the father of one into a blue Lancer and drove away. Yesterday, Ramadhar’s wife, Angela, appealed to the abductors to free her husband. She said he is diabetic and needs daily medication. She also said their six-year-old son was missing his father. She described her husband as a religious community worker who thought nothing of helping others. Speaking to Sunday Newsday from her Valsayn home, Angela said although their six-year-old son is not aware of what has happened, he is constantly asking for his father.
“He is a diamond, precious and rare and we love and miss him. All I want is my husband to be back safely home,” she said. She added that she had not spoken to the police and was not sure if she would say anything because she feared for her husband’s safety. Ramadhar’s brother-in-law, Glen Ramkissoon, the Councillor for Caura/Pasea in the Tunapuna/ Piarco Regional Corporation, appealed to the Government to do something about crime.
His call was echoed by fellow Councillors Rosasa Soodeo, (Valsayn South) and Khadijah Ammena, (Valsayn North/Carapo) who were on hand to comfort and support Ramkissoon and his sister. Relatives of the abducted man said they had received calls of concern from Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday, chief whip MP Ganga Singh, and Fyzabad MP Chandresh Sharma. Police sources told Sunday Newsday they are working on several possible leads in the abduction.
