Women march around Promenade

Today women around the world  will celebrate International Women’s Day, and in Trinidad Government ministries and non-governmental organisations will engage in a number of activities. The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs will present a series of events to celebrate International Women’s Day, on the Brian Lara Promenade, with the theme of this year’s celebration being, “Gender Equality Beyond 2005 — Building a More Secure Future.” The ministry will collaborate with other ministries and NGOs to host a formal opening ceremony between 10.30 am and 11.30 am, an exhibition from 10.30 am to 6 pm, a street parade starting from the Brian Lara Promenade from noon and a cultural rally from 2 pm.


Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Christine Sahadeo, will also be joining the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs and women around the world in celebrating International Women’s Day. Sahadeo will deliver the feature address at the opening of the ceremony in the basement, Ministry of Finance, at 9 am. At noon, women from the Ministry of Finance will join women from other Government ministries, the NGOs and women’s organisations in a march around the Brian Lara Promenade.
