Cop killer gets 20 years at Court’s Pleasure

A TEENAGER who was found guilty of murder was yesterday sentenced to be detained for 20 years at the Court’s Pleasure, after which the sentence would come up for review. Nineteen-year-old Keron Joseph was on Tuesday found guilty of the murder of PC Keiran Parke on December 30, 2002. He was tried before Justice Malcolm Holdip at the Port-of-Spain Sixth Criminal Court. Joseph, also called Atiba Carr, was 16 years old at the time of the shooting.

Parke, 39, who was then attached to the Port-of-Spain Court and Process Branch, was shot at the Corner of Adjodha Street and Don Miguel Road in San Juan, where he had gone to serve a summons. He later died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. Joseph was represented by attorney Keith Beckles, while attorneys Alexander Prince and Candia James appeared for the State.
