Female cop reports sexual assault in police station

Police officers from the Port-of-Spain Division are investigating two reports of alleged assault against two female officers in two separate incidents. The first incident occurred around 9 am on Saturday, when a female officer was in the kitchen at a Port-of-Spain police station. Reports revealed that a male officer reportedly fondled the female officer, which resulted in a struggle. The woman managed to escape and made a report to her senior officers. Acting Sgt Ajith Persad of the St Clair Police Station is investigating. The alleged victim has already been interviewed on the matter and has supplied a statement.

Also on Saturday, another female officer who is also attached to a police station in Port-of-Spain reported to the Belmont police that she was verbally abused and a glass of alcohol thrown on her uniform. Insp Peter Grant is investigating. Yesterday, acting Snr Supt Errol Denoon, head of the Port-of-Spain Division, confirmed that the two reports are being investigated. He said any reports of indiscipline among police officers would not be swept under the carpet. He said he expected to receive the completed files on the two incidents by the end of the week.
