Papal Nuncio thanks TT prayers for Pope

REPRESENTATIVE of the Holy See in Trinidad and Tobago, Apostolic Nuncio Thomas E Gullickson expressed his condolences to all the Catholic faithful of the Archdiocese of Port-of-Spain at the passing of Pope John Paul II yesterday. In a statement yesterday evening, Gullickson thanked persons from all faiths in TT for their expressions of sorrow and prayers during “the Holy Father’s last days and hours on earth.”

“May God our Father, who rewards all who believe in Him, grant His Servant, the Pope, the Vicar of St Peter and Shepherd of the Church, who faithfully administered the mysteries of God’s forgiveness and love on earth, the reward of eternal happiness,” he said. The Apostolic Nuncio called upon Catholics worldwide to pray for the eternal rest of John Paul II and for God to guide the gathering of cardinals at the Vatican who will have the task “of choosing a worthy successor for the Chair of Peter in Rome.”
