South young man to stand trial for murder
A SAN FERNANDO man was yesterday committed to stand trial for murder when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Sherman Mc Nicolls at the Port-of-Spain Eighth Magistrates’ Court. After hearing the evidence of 16 State witnesses over the past six weeks, Mc Nicolls ruled that a prima facie case had been out against 24-year-old Kayode Lavier for the murder of 28-year-old Ludwick Clarke.
Clarke, of Sparrow Drive, Simeon Road, Petit Valley was shot three times by a lone gunman on June 7, 2004 while sitting on a wall near his home. He subsequently at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. Lavier, of Brian’s Gate, San Fernando was charged with the murder by Sgt Stephen Ramsubhag of the Four Roads Police Station. The accused was represented by attorney Keith Scotland, while attorney Aden Stroude appeared for the State.
