Venezuelan grabbed in Petit Valley
A Venezuelan visitor on Wednesday night became this nation’s 19th kidnap victim for the year. According to reports, Daniel Lopez, 50, and his fianc? Lisette Flores, 18, had left their guesthouse at the corner of Chalky Place and Pioneer Drive, Petit Valley, around 10 pm, when a car with six men pulled alongside and accosted them. Flores managed to fight off the attackers and fled the scene, and was helped by a neightbour. She reported hearing two shots while fleeing the kidnappers. MWhen Flores returned to the scene of the attack, Lopez was nowhere to be found. No request for a ransom has been demanded by the abductors. When Newsday visited the guesthouse where Lopez and his fianc? were staying, no one was available to comment. However, area residents did confirm hearing gunshots followed by the screeching of car tyres. The couple arrived in TT two weeks ago and has been staying at the guesthouse since then. Lopez is currently in the care of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, assisting with the investigation. Police confirmed the kidnapping, stating that they are giving it a "high priority." Police sources indicated that they believe the kidnapping is drug-related. They believe that if the abduction is solved, it can assist them in their fight against drugs.
