Electrician killed in Valencia crash

A VALENCIA electrician is the country’s latest road fatality, bringing the total to 48 for the year so far. Gerald Neville died instantly when the vehicle he was driving crashed into an electricity pole on the Valencia stretch at around 11.45 am yesterday. Police said Neville, in the company of his girlfriend Maria Solomon, of Sangre Chiquito, was driving his white station wagon along the Valencia stretch when he lost control and the vehicle crashed into the electricity pole. Neville was thrown out of the vehicle in the process and died instantly. Solomon escaped injury. Police officers led by Cpl Monesh Baran rushed to the scene.


District Medical Officer Dr Chalam viewed the body and ordered its removal to the mortuary of the Sangre Grande Hospital. The parents of the deceased, Roy and Veronica Neville, were shocked on receiving news of their son’s death from about Baran. Neville’s father said the deceased left home at about 8 am and said he was going to visit his cousin at D’Abadie. Neville was the father of three, Gerard, 20, Anastasha, 18, and Ayanna.
Baran is continuing inquiries.
