Sharma hosts party for CCJ delegates

CHIEF JUSTICE Sat Sharma put aside his impeachment problems last Friday night and hosted a reception for the delegates who attended Saturday’s inauguration of the Caribbean Court of Justice in Port-of-Spain. The reception was held at the Belmont Room, Hilton and attended by members of the Judiciary. Several judges were absent, Justices Roger Hamel-Smith, Wendell Kangaloo, Peter Jamadar, Carlton Best, who was in Tobago, and Herbert Volney. The other judges of the Supreme Court were present with their spouses.

Chief Justices of the Caribbean along with the ppresident and judges of the CCJ were in attendance. One of the Privy Council judges, Lord Scott, was also present. Lord Scott was one of the nine judges who sat on the important Charles Matthew death penalty appeal in 2004. Newsday’s photographer CURTIS CHASE was there and captured these highlights.
