New Breakfast Shed site in 3 months
Despite the demolition all around it, the Breakfast Shed was still standing yesterday at the Cruise Ship Complex. Construction work started on the port last week, when a tractor arrived next to the Breakfast Shed and started to tear down the Cruise Ship Complex. Breakfast Shed workers said they would remain at the site until August, when Udecott is scheduled to have completed the relocation site at the Brian Lara Promenade and the eastern site of the project.
Five of the stall owners told Newsday they were going to accept the $93,000 per stall offered, because they were tired and fed-up. “There is no unity here. There is always fighting and I am leaving. I am not going with them,” said one of the stall owners, who refused to give her name. Udecott chief executive Winston Agard confirmed that five women have accepted the offer, and ten would be sent to the new location. “The structure will take three months to build and we are in the process of planning it.”
