Man killed after car overturns in canefield
A MOTHER of three lost her only son Sunday night when he was killed in a vehicular accident in Woodland. Nokedhaar Dube, 21, of St Joseph Street, San Fernando, was killed instantly when his car overturned on the M2 Ring Road near La Fortune, and landed in a canefield. His two friends, Barry Seepaul, 22, of Jagessar Street, La Romain, and Ricardo Ramdhanie, 18, of Bliz Village, Pleasantville, remain warded in serious condition at San Fernando General Hospital.
According to a police report, Dube was driving a white Mazda 323 west along the M2 Ring Road, around 8.30 pm on Sunday. On reaching La Fortune Village, Woodland, Dube lost control of the vehicle which overturned three times before crashing in a canefield. Dube and his two friends were rushed to the hospital via EHS ambulances. Dube’s distraught mother, Avasti Dube, told Newsday yesterday that her son remained lying in the canefield for 45 minutes before the ambulance took him to the hospital. “While he was on the ground, my child was complaining that his back paining him,” Dube said.
Avasti said five minutes before the accident, she spoke to Dube, a mechanic, on his cellular phone. Her son, she added, told her he was on his way to La Romain to drop his friends home. Dube said she understands that a car gave her son a “bad drive” and Dube’s car skidded on gravel before it overturned. “He used to work all the time. He working since he was 12 years old. My son loved cars. He always wanted to be a mechanic,” Dube said.
