Man arrested in woman’s murder

SIPARIA detectives will this morning submit a file to Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Geoffery Henderson for instructions to charge a 25-year-old man with the murder of 40-year-old Taramattee Toolsie. Yesterday, police arrested the suspect, who lived in the area. The body of Toolsie, a cleaner at Penal Government Primary School, was found Monday morning near her La Brea Trace home in Siparia.

An autopsy revealed she was sexually assaulted in a teak field last Friday, then strangled. Her semi-nude body was found  decomposed. Police investigators said yesterday that her killer grabbed her shortly after she left home around 5.30 am on Friday. She was walking along a lonely stretch, which is surrounded by a teak field, when the assailant accosted her and dragged her into the teak field. Detectives took a statement from the suspect yesterday at the Siparia CID. DPP Henderson will decide, based on the file submitted, if charges will be laid.
