Man in court for cleaner’s murder

PAUL VINCENT, 25, of La Brea Trace, Siparia, was yesterday taken before a Justice of the Peace, charged with last Friday’s murder of Penal Primary School janitor Tarrmatie Toolsie. Toolsie, 42, also of La Brea Trace, was murdered last week Friday and her body dumped in bushes a short distance from where she lived alone. Her uncle found Toolsie’s body around 10 am on Monday. It was partially decomposed and semi-nude. There were old tyres bundled on top of her body.

Vincent, who also lives at La Brea Trace, was arrested by police investigators on Tuesday morning at his home. On Wednesday, he was charged with the murder after Director of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson issued directions for the charge to be laid. A party of police officers, headed by Cpl Minors, escorted Vincent inside the Siparia Magistrates’ Court around 1.30 pm yesterday. Vincent was dressed in a white t-shirt, checkered short pants and sported a pair of slippers on his feet.

The magistrates who preside in the two courts had already left for the day, and Vincent was taken before Justice of the Peace Ramchan Gopaul. The charge of murder was read to the accused, after which JP Gopaul remanded him in custody. Vincent, a father of one, will appear before Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor today to answer the charge. The charge was laid by Cpl Minors of the Siparia Criminal Investigation Department.
