Lara delivers engagement ring

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: A woman was all smiles yesterday  after West Indies star batsman Brian Lara delivered an engagement  ring to her. No, Lara is not getting married. The batsman delivered the ring to a friend’s girlfriend  during a break in the third test match between the West Indies  and South Africa at Kensington Oval. Lara went to the stands to give Franayma Lewis the cricket  ball-shaped package, telling her to take care of it, said Nigel Camacho, the friend.

“I asked Brian to deliver the package to Franayma and she  thought it was something to safe guard. She did not have a clue  it was for her,” said Camacho, a dentist. “After a while, I asked  her to open it and she was stunned. She said yes, and we are both  delighted.” Camacho, 40, is well-known in the region for heading Trini Posse, a fan group that has followed the West Indies team on  tours for years. The couple lives in Trinidad. “He’s the man of my dreams and now I’m the happiest woman  in the world,” said Lewis, 28, who is originally from Venezuela.
