Contractor dies in highway accident
Death was instant for a 37-year-old building contractor of Claxton Bay after he was thrown out of his vehicle which capsized on the Solomon Hochoy Highway on Friday night. Zikr Ali, of Caratal Village, was killed almost three miles away from his home. According to police reports, around 10.20 pm Ali was travelling north in his white Mitsubishi Lancer vehicle heading towards his home. Upon reaching the Claxton Bay turn-off, Ali lost control of his car which ran off the road and overturned several times. Ali, the lone occupant of the car, was thrown out of the vehicle before it landed on its hood. He died on the spot. The accident caused a pile-up of traffic as motorists slowed down to catch a glimpse of the carnage.
