Ministers amused by questions on AG’s health
Government minsters continue to dodge queries into the medical status of Attorney General John Jeremie. At yesterday’s post-Cabinet briefing, the ministers laughed when asked if the AG is in fact ill. Imbert replied, “He is abroad on private business. He is due to return on Sunday. You can raise the matter with him when he returns.” Education Minister Hazel Manning, Labour Minister Anthony Roberts, Tourism Minister Howard Chin Lee and Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education Colm Imbert were at the briefing.
When asked about the specifics of the AG’s mysterious trip, Imbert said, “I am not aware of any details, but I’m quite sure he’ll be capable of answering questions on Monday.” At the sitting of the Senate on April 19, Bonnie Lou De Silva was appointed temporary Senator to act for Jeremie. According to the President’s letter to appoint De Silva, Jeremie was absent from the Senate “by reason of illness.” On April 22, a release was sent to the media stating that the AG was on “sick leave.” Subsequent efforts to find out about the AG’s health have been unsuccessful.
