Long wait for EHS ambulance

An injured woman had to wait nearly two hours on an Emergency Health Service (EHS) ambulance to be taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital on Friday afternoon when the vehicle she was travelling in crashed into a coconut tree.

Police reported that the vehicle was travelling south along the Manzanilla/Mayaro road, when the driver lost control and crashed into a coconut tree.

The driver received minor injuries, while the woman suffered a broken leg and could not be removed from the vehicle. Fire officers from Sangre Grande responded but were only able to console the woman while waiting on the EHS ambulance.

The EHS ambulance finally arrived and the injured woman was rushed to the Sangre Grande Hospital and then transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
