Two bandits killed in Woodbrook drama

THE normal tranquility of the  Woodbrook area was disrupted as gun-shots erupted in a mid-evening drama yesterday. When the dust was cleared, two bandits lay dead on the floor of D’ Mankee and Company Fishing Supply Ltd at 56 Luis Street, Woodbrook. One of the bandits was later identified as Ajamo Ato Samuel, 24, of Port-of-Spain. The other  man is still to be identified. According to reports, around 2.30 pm the two men pretending to be customers walked up to the intercom outside the building and said they had come to look at fishing hooks.

The men were “buzzed” in and on entering, one pulled out a firearm, pointed it at the cashier, and said, “yuh know what this is.” The proprietor, Bindra Mankee, who was standing nearby, whipped out his licensed firearm and fired five rounds, killing the men instantly. Police were contacted and they seized two firearms at the scene. The DMO visited and ordered the bodies removed to the Forensic Science Centre for autopsy on Monday.
