Fisherman shot in the legs

A 29-YEAR-OLD Oropouche fisherman was shot in both legs while asleep at his home during the early hours of yesterday morning. According to a police report, Kirk Bonas of Sudama Trace, South Oropouche, was asleep around 2.55 am, when he was suddenly awakened by the sound of voices. The report said Bonas saw a man with a gun  standing at the side of his mattress, which was placed on the floor of the bedroom.


The suspect then reportedly fired seven shots, striking Bonas in his both legs. The man subsequently ran off and reportedly escaped in a waiting vehicle, which was parked just outside Bonas’ premises. The injured man was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital via an emergency ambulance, where he was treated and warded in a stable condition. No one has been arrested for the shooting. PC Badri of the Oropouche Police Station is investigating.
