Sat tells President: Save the nation
SANATAN DHARMA Maha Sabha Secretary General Satnaryan Maharaj has appealed to President George Maxwell-Richards to sacrifice his office and save the nation from destruction. Maharaj, who was speaking at Indian Arrival Day celebrations at the Craignish Mandir in New Grant, Princes Town, yesterday, said the country cannot operate under the present Constitution, “We cannot stand and we cannot operate with a Constitution that was designed 40 years ago for a nation that was not properly educated.
“We must revisit every single one of our institutions and so we invite you, President Richards, to enter into the arena and save this nation,” he said. Maharaj said the nation had descended into a state of chaos and it was only a matter of time before it erupts and there is total destruction. He told the gathering at the Hindu temple that the country’s politicians were failures. “Our politicians have failed us and recently in one of our functions, one of our senior politicians, Winston Dookeran lamented the fact that the politicians have failed us and politics has failed the nation,” he said.
