Man held for robbing mall

A St James man will appear before a Tunapuna magistrate next week charged with robbing two stores at the Grand Bazaar Mall on the Solomon Hochoy Highway. The 32-year-old man will also appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate next week charged with robberies in the St James area. According to reports, the suspect entered a store in Grand Bazaar at 5 pm and announced his position as right-hand man of a kidnap suspect. He then put his hand under his jersey and threatened, “Yuh doh want meh to pull this thing out and shoot somebody.”


He then proceeded to rob the store of two jerseys. He then went to another store where he used a similar threat to remove a pair of expensive boots. While heading for another store, the suspect was arrested by the mall’s security and handed over to the police. Visiting the scene were Cpls Bernard and Augustine of  the Northern Division Task Force. After being identified, the man was turned over to the St James police for questioning about similar matters.
