Two charged with kidnapping, attempted murder of NH Intl clerk

Two men ages 18 and 21 of Blue Basin, Diego Martin, were charged yesterday with the kidnapping and attempted murder of NH International clerk Vandana Ali.

Following the charge, the men, Isaac Estrada and Jemerley Rolle, both of Diego Martin, appeared before a Clerk of the Peace, Eugene Prince at the Port-of-Spain Magis-trates’ court late yesterday afternoon.

Both men were slapped with a total of nine charges.

Ali was abducted while outside her Diamond Vale home on May 30 by two men who then took her to Blue Basin, where she was shot in the face and thrown into the bushes.

Her relatives were ordered to pay an $8,000 ransom for her safe return.

Ali was found bleeding in the bushes by police officers investigating the shooting death of a 15-year-old schoolgirl Elena Cupid and PH driver Kevin Renaud Cassie at Blue Basin.

Yesterday, during an ID parade, two suspects were pointed out and were later charged with the crimes.

They will appear before a Port-of-Spain magis-trate today.

The two suspects charged yesterday have matters pending in court for possession of a firearm, ammunition and marijuana.
