Cops searching for female suspect

A 43-year-old former TSTT employee never got a chance to spend some of the money he received from his voluntary separation package from TSTT.

He was stabbed to death at his Primus Street, Salybia home on Wednesday afternoon by a woman known to him. His murder is the 160th for the year thus far. According to reports, Patrick Lewis, who received his cheque from TSTT on Wednesday, returned to his home about 4 pm that day and was discussing plans to spend his cash.

The female suspect reportedly demanded cash from Lewis and an argument ensued.

Reports revealed that suspect took a knife and stabbed Lewis once in the heart. She then fled the scene.

Officers of the Toco Police Station visited the scene.

The body was viewed and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre by the District Medical Officer. An autopsy carried out yesterday by Dr Eastlyn McDonald Borris revealed that Lewis died from shock and haemorrhage, consistent with a single stab wound that punctured his heart. At the Forensic Science Centre yesterday, relatives of the dead man said that Lewis was a good person and did not deserve such a violent death. They added that he had plans to invest his money and spend some on himself.

Police investigators told Newsday that the suspect had promised to surrender with her attorney at 11 am yesterday but failed to do so.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of the suspect whom police believe has gone into hiding.

Sgt Johnny Abraham and Cpl Thalia Francis are investigating.
