Two SRPs for ID parade today
TWO Special Reserve Police Constables attached to the Western Division will be placed on an identification parade today as part of the ongoing investigation into the kidnapping of brothers Richard and Ronald Nath. The two officers, 20 and 22, who were arrested on Friday were recruited in 2003 during the Government’s drive to recruit 1,000 SRPs. They were arrested at their homes along with a woman and her daughter. One of the suspects is on suspension from the police service. Yesterday, the two SRPs were kept in cells at the Port-of-Spain CID. They were visited by an attorney. Sources revealed that the ID parade was supposed to be carried out yesterday, but officers were unable to do so because the witnesses failed to show up. Police sources revealed that based on the arrests, they now believe that a group of police officers are involved in kidnappings, robberies and other crimes. The Nath brothers were snatched last week while driving along the Valencia stretch. A US $2 million was demanded for the safe return of the brothers. They were rescued from a shack in Enterprise yesterday afternoon.
