No arrest yet in Diamond Vale double murder
NO ARREST has been made yet in Friday night’s double murder. Although two male relatives of the victims have been questioned. Two bosom buddies Donna George and Sherma Roberts were executed at the latter’s Diamond Vale, Diego Martin home in what police believe was a hired hit. The two relatives have since been released. When contacted police sources told Newsday that the investigations are very sensitive and they have to proceed cautiously. Both women who have upcoming court matters with their spouses (military personnel) were killed with single bullet wounds to the back of their heads. Sherma is the common-law-wife of a soldier, while Donna is the common-law-wife of a Coast Guard officer. According to reports, at about 10 pm Unemployment Relief Programme employee Sherma was in the bedroom getting ready to meet her daughter Shantasia, two, at her sister’s (Pamela) home Scorpion Alley, in Carenage. Also in the room was her friend, pre-school principal and teacher Donna George. Shortly after there was the sound of gunfire coming from the bedroom and a man seen running out. When checks were made, the bodies of the two women were found by neighbours lying face down on a blood soaked bed. Roberts had been the victim of several reported beatings and death threats by a relative who had recently broken a restraining order. Police believe the shooting was intended for Roberts, while George, her close friend, just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
