Murdered URP checker laid to rest
TEARS FLOWED freely yesterday at the funeral service of Sherma Mary Ann Roberts, the 33- year-old URP checker who was shot dead last Friday at Carnelian Gardens, Diamond Vale. Delivering the eulogy was Roberts’ aunt Ena Ahee at the overcrowded Carenage RC Church, Carenage. The sermon was delivered by Pastor Linda Phillip. Ahee described Roberts as a jovial and humorous person to be around, recalling that a lime was never a lime without Sherma. "She was a person who loved entertainment and her home was always filled with guests. She possessed beauty both inside and outside, and was very fashionable," said Ahee. Roberts leaves to mourn her two-year-old daughter Shantansia Williams. Ahee said she loved her daughter very much, and would often say she would never have another child. Relatives said they would always remember her infectious laugh and charitable disposition. Roberts and her 47-year-old neighbour, Donna George, a pre-school principal, were both shot dead last Friday by two men who came calling at Roberts’ gate. Roberts was buried at the Carenage Cemetery.
