Man stabbed to death on Brian Lara Promenade
A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death during an argument with a female friend on the Brian Lara Promenade early yesterday morning. Police reports revealed that Kieron Haynes was standing on the Brian Lara Promenade with a 20-year-old woman at 12.10 am, when an argument erupted. The woman reportedly pulled out a six-inch knife and stabbed Haynes once in the chest. He was assisted by passers-by who rushed him to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. Haynes was pronounced dead on arrival. The 20-year-old suspect was held and was up to yesterday assisting homicide officers in the probe. Yesterday, the dead man’s grandmother, Jean Martin, said she had always feared that her grandson would be murdered. She said she knew the suspect, and that the suspect had also threatened her. The grieving woman pointed out that she had been taking care of Haynes since he was five years old, and he never bothered anyone. As tears streamed down her face, the woman added that she is hoping that justice would be served. Investigations are continuing.
