Teens arrested for dirty dancing
TWO 16-year-old girls were among six exotic dancers arrested and charged with lewd and suggestive dancing after police cracked down on a popular pub at Mucurapo Street, San Fernando on Friday night. A couple who operates the pub and a 28-year-old man, believed to be the dancers’ employer, were also arrested and have been charged with aiding and abetting. The crackdown came after several days of surveillance by a team of officers from Operations Unit South. At around 9.30 pm on Friday policemen led by Sgt Anthony Charles, including WPCs Sharon Joseph and Peggy Brown, PCs Chase, Ian Wyatt and Roland Smith, went to the pub and saw six scantily clad women performing lewd dancing on the stage and performing lap dances on male patrons. The women, including two 16-year-olds from Chaguanas, a 21-year-old and 23-year-old from Diego Martin, a 17-year-old from San Juan and a 20-year-old from Laventille, along with the three other persons, were arrested and charged. The police gave the patrons a stern warning before allowing them to leave. All nine persons are expected to appear before a San Fernando magistrate tomorrow to answer the charges.
