Grande man gunned down

Officers of the Sangre Grande Police Station are searching for a 20-year-old woman whom they believe can assist them in the shooting death of 20-year-old mechanic Richard Sudeen.

Sudeen was shot several times outside his Foster Road home in Sangre Grande on Thursday night.

Police investigators believe Sudeen’s murder may be linked to a recent argument between Sudeen and a woman he knew.

Yesterday, the victim’s parents, Ashook and Juliet Lall, described their son as a quiet, loving and respectful person.

They added that he was not involved in illicit activities and are calling on the police to find the killer and bring him/her to justice.

According to reports, Sudeen was bathing at his home when he was called out by a friend who asked him to buy a cigarette for him.

Sudeen was talking to his friend when he was approached by a gunman who fired a volley of shots at him.

He was struck on the right side of the head, once in the mouth and twice in the chest.

The bleeding man was rushed to the Sangre Grande Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

At about 8.45 pm, doctors told anxious relatives that Sudeen had died.

Relatives and neighbours of the dead man were still in a state of shock over the killing, crying openly at the scene.

Sudeen’s death is the 246th for the year.

Police investigators told Newsday that on Thursday, Sudeen reported to the police that a woman he knew had smashed the windscreen of his car.

Officers were investigating that report when they heard of the murder.

Snr Supt Rodvan Bastien, Insps Roy Fermin, Luke Rojas, and WPC Beverly Paul, and PCs Ken Rampersad and Ramharack Gadar visited the scene.

WPC Paul is investigating.
