Two in court for Grande murder
A 27-year-old woman, known as the "Grande Tigress," who is charged with the shooting death of Sangre Grande mechanic Richard Sudeen, was booed when she and a 22-year-old co-accused were escorted to the Sangre Grande Mag-istrates’ Court yesterday. Almost one hour before the two were due to appear before a Sangre Grande magistrate, residents of Foster Road pitched a makeshift tent outside the courtroom in an effort to catch a glimpse of the two accused. When the two finally emerged in handcuffs from the Sangre Grande Police Station at about 9 am, shouts of "boo" echoed around the courthouse. Tricia Flemming and Sheldon Mohammed of Foster Road, Sangre Grande, appeared unfazed by the actions of the public. The animated group then began chanting and expressed relief that the two had been charged. When Flemming, dressed in a bright coloured top, and a smiling Mohammed appeared in court, they were not called on to plead and the matter was adjourned to next Thursday. The two were then remanded into custody. Sudeen was shot dead outside his Foster Road home in Sangre Grande last Thursday night. The two suspects in the murder were arrested on Saturday as they walked along Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain. On Thursday, Director of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson gave instructions to Cpl Beverly Paul to lay a charge of murder against the two.
