Woman in court for murder, kidnapping

A 23-year-old woman appeared before an Arima magistrate yesterday charged with the murder of Reena Kissoon, 27, who was found murdered at a La Horquetta house on September 3. Her three-week-old baby had been kidnapped.

Kerry-Ann Andrea Hosang of Satar Street, Aranjuez, appeared before Magistrate Debra Quintyne in the Arima Magistrates’ First Court accused of the murder of Kissoon with the alleged help of an accomplice. A petite and unsmiling Hosang appeared wearing a pale green skirt suit and a pair of glasses. The charge of murder was laid indictably and Hosang was not called on to plead.

Hosang was represented by attorney Kenneth Munroe Brown.

Prosecutor — acting Sgt Greenidge — told Quintyne that he was still awaiting a request from the Director of Public Prosecution’s office to proceed with the prosecution of Hosang. Hosang is accused of murdering Reena Kissoon, who was believed to have been killed on September 1. Her decomposing body was found two days later in a La Horquetta house, with her throat slit.

Her body also bore chop wounds. Hosang also allegedly kidnapped Kissoon’s three-week-old baby, Alicia, who was rescued from a house at Maracas, St Joseph.

The matter was adjourned to September 21.
