Ramroop tells OJT grads to have positive work attitude
DEVELOPING a positive attitude towards doing one’s job and respecting yourself and others were some of the life skills stressed by the Junior Science, Technology and Tertiary Education Minister Satish Ramroop at the graduation ceremony for graduates of the West Region of the On the Job Training (OJT) Programme in the Central Bank Auditorium yesterday. "Attitude is the state of mind that you are in and if you shut off your mind to learning, you will not benefit," he said. He gave this advice during the feature address at the function which was appreciated by the large audience of young graduates. Ramroop urged his youthful graduates to continue striving to update their skills and to acquire knowledge and experience which he believes are vital in today’s knowledge-based international economy. "Knowledge is power for without knowledge, nothing is possible," he stressed as some graduates nodded their heads in agreement. He called on the graduates to plan properly for the future instead of panicking when faced with a problem. "And when you plan and conceptualise, the second thing to do is prepare and then you present," he said. The minister also appealed to the graduates to have dreams and not to give up on pursuing them despite the negative opinions of other people. Being courteous, patient and pleasant in the workplace were also stressed by the minister to the graduates. He concluded by congratulating the graduates on their achievement and urged them to continue striving for success in life.
